One of hip-hop's first successful female rappers, MC Lyte is known for her brag-heavy rhymes and catchy production. Her first album "Lyte As A Rock" was released in 1988. Other early rap ladies include Salt-N-Pepa, Roxanne Shante, the Real Roxanne, JJ Fad, and Queen Latifah. MC Lyte's half-brothers are Milk and Gizmo from Audio Two. Still recording today, MC Lyte runs her own website and has a clothing company called Lyte Wear.
