Goth-tinged depresso-metal from Milan, Italy. Andrea Ferro formed Lacuna Coil in 1996. Originally, the band was called Sleep of Right, then Ethereal. They settled on Lacuna Coil when Cristina Scabbia joined. Scabbia also runs an advice column in the magazine Revolver. She is dating Jim Root of Slipknot. The phrase "lacuna coil" translates as "empty spiral." Despite taking their time recording albums, the band has toured almost constantly since its inception.
