Black Stone Cherry play their heavy metal rock and roll like the true native Kentuckians they are. Drummer John Fred Young is the son of guitarist Richard Young, of the Kentucky Headhunters. The band formed in 2001 and released their first record (for Roadrunner) in 2006. When Black Stone Cherry recorded their first record, the oldest members of the group were only 23. The band members are all from Edmonton, Ky., a "dry" town, meaning alcohol is not sold there.
